AGARTALA, Sep 22 (TIWN): Tripura journalists held a silent protest rally on Friday as a part of protest against barbaric murder of Journalist Santanu Bhowmik. Santanu who was brutally killed in a clash among ruling CPI-M party and tribal based separatist party IPFT on Sep-20 has shocked, ashamed the state. Murder of Santanu raised question on the human rights, journalists' safety in Tripura. Santanu's murder was occurred before hundreds of police as section-144 was already implemented at Mandai after some clashes continued from Sep-19 night to Sep-20. When Santnau went to cover the clash among CPI-M backed GMP & CITU and separatist party IPFT, he was killed. However CPI-M claimed that IPFT has killed Santanu, but unfortunately media is totally left 'clueless' about his murderers and question also raising how alone Santanu reached at Mandai alone amidst such violence.
Political parties are in full wave to take the mileage of victim, but when comes about action, the CPI-M Govt has failed to arrest all the culprits. Not a single police was suspended for negligence of duty.
2 persons however have sent for 14 days police remand but journalists are vexed with the lose investigation, police's lack of cooperation and state govt's silence. In the cabinet meeting also Santanu's matter was not discussed that has raised much anger among the common people.
In the Govt press release Tripura Govt has not mentioned a single word about IPFT but the ruling party has directly dumped everything on IPFT.
The rally of the journalists began from Agartala press club then via Orient Chowmuhani, Sankar Chowmuhnai, crossing Dainik Sambad office the rally has moved again towards press club.
Media persons said that this is not the ending and protest to be continued till Santanu gets justice.
