Belonia, Aug 28 (TIWN): Belonia Border area has turned as the corridor for smuggling of cows and buffaloes to Bangladesh for last few months.
It is reported that a gang of smugglers take the cows from Belonia Border area under South district of Tripura as a part of regular activities. Then using different routes, they reach the border area and smuggle them at night.
Though the BSF were informed about this, they were unable to take any steps against this as BSF operates only 2km from the border.
Many poor farmers are facing losses as due to the smuggling’s rampant business cattle are theft even from the household. Negligence in border fencing are also reason behind increasing smugglings.
