Moreover, the The issue was about the Doctor who is totally responsible for the children's death, a thief of Oxygen Cylinder. The Killer Doctor was Kafeel Khan, a doctor was rewarded by CPI-M as a national hero through its patronage media. Generally, when such a tragic episode took place at the primary level doctors and staffs are responsible, whereas the Govt's duty comes in taking action against the culprits and future safety.
After the tragedy, Dr Kafeel Ahmed Khan is the second official removed from the hospital administration, following the suspension of Dr Rajeev Mishra, the principal of the BRD medical college.
But later the Doctor was tried to figure as a hero and the Doctor's association advertized, "when Dr Khan came to know that oxygen cylinders at the hospital were about to dry, he swung into action. Dr Khan borrowed three oxygen cylinders from other nursing homes and even withdrew Rs 10,000 from his personal account to purchase 17 oxygen cylinders in order to save as many infants as possible", whether as the doctor it was his duty to keep the arrangements ready inside the hospital.
Kafeel Khan, the doctor in question was questioned by the media regarding the removal. While he called it a smear campaign, he didn’t deny the accusations by asking as to why were past controversies being raked up now. Other reports have made another severe allegation that Khan used to steal oxygen cylinders from the BRD hospital for his private clinic. The report claimed that on August 11 he hurriedly sent 3 oxygen cylinders from his clinic to BRD hospital while claiming that he had merely borrowed them. Dr Rajiv Mishra the Principle of the college who was sacked on Saturday was also believed to have been in cahoots with Dr Kafeel Khan.
