A protest rally was kicked off in the afternoon led by Pranajit Sinha Roy and later joined by BJP State President Biplab Deb.
While addressing on the 71st independence day at Agartala Assam Rifles ground, Manik Sarkar said, "In our constitution it has been clearly written that what religion will be one's identity it's fully upto the person. Nobody has right to disturb one's religion but today it has been seen that only one religion is given importance".
"They are with their narrow religious mentality are targeting the minority, killing other religion's people. If we can not stop the aggressiveness, then there is no meaning of celebrating Independence day", said CM.
