AGARTALA, Aug 10 (TIWN): As per Tripura Health Minister Badal Chowdhury's announcement about National Deworming day under NHM for the year 2017 has begun on Thursday.
Across the schools the children were administered with deworming tablets.
"From 10th August National Deworming Day observation to begin for the 5th time in a move to administer all the infants from 1 to 19 months, adolescents with deworming medicine albendazole", in a press meet Health Minister Badal Chowdhury said.
Across all the Govt and Private Anganwadi centres, schools the deworming medicines to be administered; however in case of any children can not take the tablet on Aug-10, then on Aug-17 the medicine will be provided again.
The main programme this time will be inaugurated at Kalachara, under Sabroom by Minister Manindra Reang.
National Deworming Day is a groundbreaking initiative focused on reducing the threat of parasitic worm infections, a widespread health issue affecting over 241 million children in India alone.
India has the highest burden of soil-transmitted helminths or parasitic worms in the world. Parasitic worms in children interfere with nutrient uptake, and can contribute to anemia, malnourishment, and impaired mental and physical development.
Dr. Shailesh Kumar Yadav, Mission Director NHM also remained present during the press conference at Secretariat.
