Tripura shares 7 votes for 14th President without any BJP MLA

AGARTALA, July 25 (TIWN): Ram Nath Kovind, a former BJP member and an RSS activist, was on Tuesday sworn in as the 14th President of India.
However, from Tripura also Kovind received 7 votes, although state has no BJP MLA.
Thanking the 7 MLAs Tripura State Observer Sunil Deodhar said, "I am very happy that country has chosen Kovind Ji who is a follower of Baba Ambedkar and now becoming the President of India, representing the Dalits, Kovind Ji's activities I believe will be noteworthy for development".
"I also thank the MLAs of Tripura who against the will of their party decision, have decided to vote for the best candidate", added Deodhar.
The 7 legislators will join BJP soon however.
