AGARTALA, August 2 (TIWN): Aiming to make the people aware of protecting the environment, 83-Battalion BSF in association with Dhalai Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) today organized a ‘walk and run’ rally that started from Halahali Higher Secondary School. The 83-Battalion BSF conducted a 20 km long walkathon as part of BSF Annual Campaign ‘My Earth My Duty’ under the leadership of Battalion Commandant A.K. Singha. Starting from Halahali bazaar, the rally culminated at Kulai Higher Secondary School ground.
SMS of Dhalai Krishi Vigyan Kendra cum Agri-Extension Officer Pradip Kumar Das, Fishery Science Officer Ramanuj Chakraborty, Animal Science Officer Alak Chakraborty remained Horticulture Officer Debraj Barman remained present there. Besides, was present T.R. Sharma, A.K. Yadav and 83-Bn commandant A.K. Singh on behalf of BSF. Apart from BSF jawans, the school students took part in the rally. A.K. Singh said, “We aim at increasing awareness regarding environment protection among common mass”.
Numerous flex board, banners, placard were displayed during the walkathon to spread the message. Apart from this loudspeaker were also used to convey across the message to the locals in local language while travelling thoroughfare. Around 200 BSF troops including Officers and 15 KVK officials officially participated in this event. However, onlooker civilians and Kulai High School also joined the walkathon as it progressed towards its destination.
20 Km Walkathon was a thorough success and can be judged by the fact that there was a huge public gathering on the road to witness this event, hear the message and also to cheer up the Jawans. At the culmination point plantation drive was carried out in the Kulai Higher Secondary School ground by A K Singh, Commandant 83-Bn BSF and Principal, Kulai H/S School.
