Agartala, Oct 6 (TIWN) The countdown for Durga Puja has almost reached its final leg, but the venues to welcome the goddess are far from ready, thanks to the rain bounty.With just four days before Panchami most puja organizers in Agartala are worried whether their pandals would be completed on time or not.
Due to upper air circulation over Assam and, Meghalaya, rain is playing serious spoil sport shoppers Agartala met office apprehends more rain during the five days of Durga puja. Puja organizers have nothing else to do except pray.
The down pour in the last four days has hit preparations hard and work is running behind schedule. To meet the deadline, workers are not only sweating it out during the day but also burning the midnight oil.
“We are praying that the weather stays sunny. We are running late and will have to complete our work a day before the Panchami. Incessant rain stalled work in the past few days. We could only work inside the pandals” said Debashish Bhattacherjee convener of Bharat Ratna Sangha, Usha Bazaar, building the model of ancient Nalanda University.
Rains have not only disheartened the pandal makers, but also become a prime concern for idol makers. The workshops of most are inundated with water leaking through the ceiling and walls making it difficult to dry the idols.
Idol makers are finding it difficult to meet the deadlines’, “Now is time to put the final layers of colors but we can’t because the paints don’t hold to the wet surface” said an artisan
