AGARTALA, July 25 (TIWN): MP and CPI-M Chief whip in Loksabha Jitendra Chaudhury on Friday has raised the issue of connecting Chittagong Sea Port with under construction Agartala- Sabroom Railway Project for better connectivity with neighboring countries through Tripura. He also pointed out that widening of all National Highways including NH 44 passing through northeast is need to be done on priority basis for the benefit of the region as well as Bangladesh. He also requested to accord sanction for the proposed bridge over river Feni, as aerially Chiitagong is only at 32 kms distance and 72 kms by road, which shall reduce the cost of transportation and also encourage industrialization and connect the entire NER with South Asian countries.
He reiterated further that the visit of External Affairs Minister to Bangladesh has generated enthusiasm among the people of both the countries and believe that PM, Narendra Modi shall definitely fulfill his words, which he demonstrated in the very first hour of his assuming the office.
Minister, Commerce & Industries, Smt Sitharaman was also present during the deliberation.
