AGARTALA, July 15 (TIWN): The state is currently fully saturated with anti malaria drugs; there is no dearth of medicine anywhere in the state, an official communiqué from the Department of Health and Family Welfare said here today.Over 1 lakh new Rapid Diagnosis Test (RDT) kits for testing suspected malaria patients arrived in the state today. Regular medical camps were continued across the state. No death was reported from anywhere in the state.
A source in the Health Department said later today that out of 3,615 fever patients who underwent blood tests across the state, 959 patients were diagnosed with malaria parasite. A total of 1,009 patients were admitted in different hospitals and healthcare institutions of the state; 474 out of them were found to have contacted malaria. The total number of malaria patients diagnosed in the state since June 13 have crossed 32,333.
A highly placed source inside the Department of Health and Family Welfare today said that highest importance is being attached to proper maintenance of the treatment protocol suggested in the National Health Policy. All malaria patients are being subjected to institutional treatment, he said.
All para-medical staff and medical officers on-duty in PHCs and rural hospitals were instructed to ensure proper care to malaria patients including administering special diet and proper anti-malaria drugs. The stock of drugs was said to be satisfactory in all locations.
