Agartala, July 12 (TIWN): The Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) on Saturday staged protest against the first general budget and rail budget tabled by the Narendra Modi government and said that the new government was ‘exposed’ on its betrayal with the nation over the budget.
Addressing a massive gathering at Old Agartala Motorstand area in Agartala this afternoon, DYFI state secretary Amal Chakraborty said that the protest was staged as a part of the seven day statewide protest against the union budget and rail budget.
“The BJP government came to power with flowery promises of a great time ahead. In the first one month of its tenure, it has reduced provisions of funds and allowances for the NREGS, tribal welfare, religious minorities, public healthcare sector to name a few. There was FDI introduced in railways, defense sector, price of essential commodities kept soaring up. If this is ‘acchey din’, what would be the bad days?” Chakraborty quipped.
DYFI state president Pankaj Ghosh criticized the BJP government and said that corporatization and liberalization has become the thumbrule of new government. “They have drawn a distinct line between the bright and dark India – a new innovation of the saffron leaders”, Ghosh said. He demanded immediate rollback of all anti-people policies set by the new central government.
A massive rally started from Paradise Chowmuhani in the city and ended at Old Agartala Motorstand. CPI (M) leader Samir Deb presided over the gathering at motorstand area.
