AGARTALA, March 24 (TIWN): A Mega School Safety programme was held at Rabindra Bhawan on Thursday.
West DM Milind Ramteke, Sabhadipati Dilip Das, SDM S Chowdhury remained present on that occasion.
The discussion was basically held about the safety methods during earthquakes, as Tripura is under earthquake zone.
On January 3, a massive earthquake of 5.7 Magnitude had hit Tripura and other NE States, including few parts of Bangladesh. Although causality was reported only 1 but there were huge damages of houses and 45 houses fully collapses, whereas more 6,685 houses were partially collapsed.
The seven northeastern states - Assam, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Tripura, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh and Manipur - are considered by seismologists as the sixth major earthquake-prone belt in the world. The region experienced an earthquake measuring 8.7 on the Richter scale in 1897, that left over 1,600 people dead.
It was said that in every 3rd Saturday demonstration will be given to the school students.
During the programme also Disaster Management gave demos of safety to the students.
