KAILASHAHAR, March 7 (TIWN): In 2013 at Kailashahar's Jarultali, with 25 hector areas a botanical garden was inaugurated by the then Forest Minister Jiten Chowdhury. The garden was initiated by former District Magistrate Abhishek Chandra, which was aimed to sock multiple medicine plants . In 2013, 60 varieties of medical plants were planted there and at the initial level Rs. 5 lakhs were sanctioned. Later from MGNREGA more Rs. 17 lakhs were released. But after planting the trees, the garden left as it is without nurturing resulting mass dying of those medicine plants. Presently rather than few bamboo plants nothing is left there and it has almost become a barren land without maintenance. It was aimed to educate the students about botany as well as to familiar them with various plants. Whereas inside the garden 60 kinds of plants were planted, the boundary was given with bamboos. But today without bamboo-made jungles nothing is left there. This garden has cited example, how Govt money can be wasted due to the negligence of a dept.
This work was done by Tripura Forest Dept. This park was also aimed to cater tourists as well as a point for children's practical learning. Sometimes teachers as a part of biology classes could take the students for visiting purpose.
A botanical garden or botanic garden is a garden dedicated to the collection, cultivation and display of a wide range of plants labelled with their botanical names
But the irresponsibility of the dept has turned the botanical garden into a barren land.
