Agartala, July 4 (TIWN): The National Highway 44 on Friday became functional after total disruption of vehicular movement for the past 48 hours.
The National Highway was totally defunct since July 02 after the Highway developed a 40 mt depression near the Tripura-Assam boundary, Chief Secretary Dr. Sanjay Kumar Panda said at the civil secretariat here this evening.
The official further stated that the issue was taken up with Assam Chief Secretary and requested for immediate repair of the patch. Officials of the Tripura Government were deployed on the spot as well.
The depression in the National Highway was found in Lowerpua area in Assam, around 3 Km northward from Churaibari. An official of the Public Works Department earlier said that it was learnt that trucks plying from Assam to Tripura carrying loads of cargo and passenger vehicles were stalled on both sides of the depression.
All vehicular movement resumed since Friday afternoon, Chief Secretary Dr. Panda said.
