Agartala, July 2 (TIWN): With barely two weeks to go for the three-tier Panchayat elections, opposition leader Sudip Roy Barman today visited Belonia Congress Bhavan and held meeting with senior party leaders on the party’s preparation for the ensuing polls.
After giving a patience hearing, he gave a brief speech before the party leaders and few party workers.
In his speech, Roy Barman said Congress is the viable alternative to the Left Front in the state. “Parties like BJP and Trinamool Congress may steps in the political landscape but they will not be able to make the Congress irrelevant here. The century-old party will come to the limelight once again”, he claimed.
Roy Barman also criticized the Left regime saying the Manik Sarkar led government has been trying to make people poor despite availability of funds. “They making people fool for years after years but one day people will revolt against the exploiters”, he said.
In his speech, he also sharply criticized the government for legal complication over the appointment of teachers, SSA, medicine scam and corruption at panchayat level.
Lastly, he appealed the people to wake up to ventilate their angers against the Left Front government. “In our state, people want the Congress to take lead role in taking the battle against the ruling front for its misrule. It’s very unfortunate people remain silent on different issues. People must come forward to battle against the Left Front government, he said.
Calling upon people to come forward to against the anti-people policies and corrupt practice of the government, he exhorted the people to vote in favour of Congress candidates in the coming panchayat elections. Interestingly, he did not address any rally for the party nominees.
