AGARTALA, July 01 (TIWN): Within 24 hours of assuming additional charge in the gubernatorial post of Tripura, Governor of Mizoram Vakkom Purushottaman on Tuesday visited the Akhaura international check post. The Governor and the first lady Dr. Lilly Purushottaman visited the check-post and looked into the functioning of export-import operations at the facility.
The Governor visited the borderline at the zero line along the Indo-Bangla international border in the area. Governor Purushottaman was later accorded guard of honour by the jawans of the 195 battalion of Border Security Forces (BSF). He shared dialogues and sweets with the border sentinels.
An 86-year-old Congress veteran, who served as a minister in his home state - Kerala and later as the assembly speaker, was twice elected to the Lok Sabha. Purushothaman was appointed Mizoram governor by the then President of India - Pratibha Devi singh Patil in August, 2011.
