AGARTALA, Feb 8 (TIWN): Along with the nation Tripura also to observe the National De-worming Day on Feb 10. In this regard North Tripura CMO Shankar Das has called media to aware the society about Deworming issues via media.
However, following 2 years of bad experiences CMO urged media ‘not to make immediate news’ if any student fell sick after taking deworming tablets, as it’s a very common symptom.
State wide many programmes will be held on Feb 10 and North Tripura also will celebrate the Deworming Day-2017.
The Ministry of Health & Family Welfare had launched the first 'National Deworming Day' -a massive school based deworming ​ effort in twelve states on Tuesday February 10.
National Deworming Day is a groundbreaking initiative focused on reducing the threat of parasitic worm infections, a widespread health issue affecting over 241 million children in India alone.
According to the 2012 report 'Children in India', published by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation, Govt. of India, 48% of children under the age of five years are stunted and 19.8% are wasted, indicating that half of the country's children are malnourished.
