Agartala, June 25 (TIWN):There are no report of death due to malaria in Tripura on Wednesday, but malaria germs was found In blood of 1338 patients after testing 7792 people having fever, said Health and Family welfare minister Badal Chowdhury.
Speaking to reporters at secretariat, the minister stated that worst affected area of Dumburnagar in Gandahcherra sub division the outbreak of malaria was brought under control whereas the condition of Longatarai Valley is grim. There out of 140 people admitted 119 was tested positive. On June 27, the minister along with health secretary M. Nagaraju will visit Longtarai Valley to take stock of the situation. He also informed the central medical team is touring the malaria affected areas is likely to return here tomorrow.
In last one month forty seven people including 30 children have died of malaria in the state .Since June 13, 36329 people have been treated by government doctors, of which 5833 patients were found to be malaria positive. 6288 blood samples were examined of which 1251 samples were bearing malarial germs
Affected people mainly belonged to tribal communities, from three districts - Dhalai, Gomati and South Tripura, he said adding the state was afflicted with malaria after a gap of four years.
Ministers of different departments were given responsibility to look after the malaria control measures being taken in the affected areas and added a Central team of doctors which was still touring in the affected areas stated that malaria did not assume epidemic proportions till now.
