AGARTALA, June 23 (TIWN): ONGC Executive Director Deepak Bakshi along with ONGC Tripura Asset Manager VP Mahawar today visited Khedabari area to know the ground realty in laying pipeline to supply gas to Monarchak power plant. As the controversy rages over the status of Monarchak power plant, the ONGC management is leaving no stone unturned to complete the gas pipeline work upto Monarchak.Bakshi, who is also chief of ONGC’s Engineering Services today visited Khedabari and its adjacent areas to oversee the challenge before the task- laying of gas pipeline.However, he could not see the entire alignment of the pipeline from Khedabari to Monarchak due to torrential showers. Sources said, the Bakshi is scheduled to hold a meeting with engineers of Tripura Asset, ONGC to discuss on how to complete the undone work at the earliest.
The ONGC has already engaged Engineers’ India Ltd (EIL) to undertake the unfinished gas pipeline. The ONGC has supposed to complete the pipeline work by next months so that the NEEPCO project gets gas for commissioning the 101 MW power project.
Clearing all doubts, the NEEPCO authority on Friday declared the Monarchak power plant would be commissioned within two months after receiving the natural gas supply from the ONGC.
“We have already completed pre-commissioning works at Manarchak plant and remaining works could be done only after charging of gas to the Gas Turbine (GT), said Head of Project (HoP), Manarchak power project SR Biswas at a press conference recently.
