Tripura Govt to remove ‘Jumia’ word

AGARTALA, Jan 22 (TIWN): The word ‘Jumia’ will be no more in Tripura, as there is no more Jumia people in the state, a Govt data said.
Tripura govt recognized 1 lakh 24 thousand 541 lanless Jumias, among them 1 lakh 75 thousand 658 Ekar of lands were provided to them.
In Tripura no people is landless or beggar and Jumias have also upgraded a lot.
Rural Development minister Naresh Jamatia said in 2015 that all Jumia families would be brought under special rehabilitation for providing permanent employment instead of Jum cultivation by 2018.
In this situation, Govt is thinking to remove the word Jumia from Tripura.
