AGARTALA, Dec 21 (TIWN): Income certificate is a must need for every citizen and needs to be renewed after a period of six months. In obtaining this must certificate, common man have to go through severe harassment from Tehsil officials.

 Taking a Peek into  Barjala Ward No-4 Tehsil’s office, TIWN have noted some of these harassments faced by common man.

Originals documents carried by people are not at all checked by officials. They fill up details as per their will and wish. They scream at commoners and even in case of filling income amount they do not look at  local income certificate provided by locality commissioner or MLA. They always try to enhance the income as compared to the one provided by locality. May some game is hidden behind showing enhanced income, so that they can show the progress in the economic condition of state.

 Recently, a  guardian of school going child came for obtaining income certificate as income certificate need to be submitted under bicycles distribution scheme for underprivileged children. The head of that family is an auto driver and being ill, he cannot even drive properly. The local commissioner gave an income certificate stating Rs.4000pm.Barjala Tehsildar mocked by saying that Auto drivers are having good incomes and enhanced the income of the family to 8,000 pm. People earn but income is decided by ward officials based on prediction not on reality. And ward officials particularly Tehsildar behaves very roughly with people.
