AGARTALA, Dec 21 (TIWN): To gear upcoming Vidhan Sabha election, Agriculture Dept. under ruling left front govt. would be distributing power tiller to farmers.

However, Agriculture Dept has not announced any tender for price determination of power tillers. Farmers have to buy power tillers at company’s fixed rate.

Earlier power tillers were distributed by Horti corporation , for which the corporation used to get huge commission. But now, low graded power tillers are procured from local business man and sold for high prices to farmers. Hence  dept officials can keep illegally  money for themselves.

Many farmers tried to protest against the quality of power tillers;  consequently their names were rejected from list.
