New Delhi / Agartala, Jan 19 (TIWN): Union railway minister pitched for Northeast's development as Modi Govt's most important focus so that this backward region can be developed.
The process of development has been slow in the North Eastern region for many reasons. The traditional system of self-governance and social customs of livelihood in the NE had remained virtually untouched during the British rule. Creation of a rail network was, perhaps, the only major economic activity in the region.
After the announcement of Modi’s “Look East” policy, has been given to the development of the NE area prticluerly Tripura . Since then, the railway system in the region has grown considerably. Even in Nagaland and Tripura, a railway route has been set up in the plain areas of the region. The Indian Railways is pursuing an ambitious plan to connect all state capitals with a rail network.
CM Manik Sarkar met Suresh Prabhu at New Delhi and discussed Rail development in the state.Suresh Prabhu assured CM Manik to take all necessary steps to developed Railway Net work within the State and across the country as N-E connectivity is a major thrust area for Modi Government.
