AGARTALA, Dec 17 (TIWN): CM Manik Sarkar recently framed for Rose Valley corruption has received Basava Krishi Award on Monday. The award has been laid upon him by Lingayat Panchamasali Jagadguru Mahapeetha for his selfless service to farmers. So called poor CM denied free flight and travelled nearly 3000 km through train.
At the Sangeswara Temple, CM was offered a floral garland which he denied saying he does not deserve it. Manik Sarkar was also offered a cash prize of Rs. 1 lakh but he is said to have donated it for party fund.
On the award giving ceremony Basava Jayamrutunjaya Swami of Panchamasali Mutt of Kudalasangama said Mr. Sarkar is one of the most sincere and honest chief ministers across India. He further said that he is a model for other chief ministers.
The Basava Krishi Award was constituted in 2012 with an objective of honouring people for their distinguished work in the field of agriculture. In 2012, the first recipient of the award was activist working in the field of water conservation, Rajendra Singh.
