AGARTALA, Dec 17 (TIWN): West Tripura to start pulse polio campaign for children under 0 to 5 years from Jan 29.
A target has been set to feed pulse polio to 71,151 children.
A total of 764 centers to administer campaign from 8:00 AM till 4:00 PM .
3060 post coordinators and 156 supervisors are being deputed for the campaign under Health Dept.
Pulse Polio is an immunization campaign established by the government of India in 1995-96 to eradicate poliomyelitis (polio) in India by vaccinating all children under the age of five years against polio virus.
This project deals with the ways to fight poliomyelitis through a large scale immunization programme, co-operating with various international institutions, state governments and Non Governmental Organizations, as part of the Global Polio Eradication Initiative, spearheaded by Rotary International, the World Health Organization, UNICEF, and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
