KAMALPUR, Jan 9 (TIWN): Earthquake turned to be menace and panic in recent times. Although lakhs of rupees got spent in the name of Disaster Management, but in reality no person could be found helping people to combat disaster. And the awareness of people also remained at a low level.

Hence people got often found in dilemma during earthquakes. In this context, the Science and Rationalist Association, Kamalpur Branch organized an earthquake combating workshop with the title “Workshop on the science of earthquake”. The workshop was held at Kamalpur Government Class XII School, here today.

In the workshop, hundreds of class XI standard students from four school of the town namely Government English Medium Class XII, Kamalpur Madrassa Class XII, K.C. Girls’ Class XII and the host school participated. In the workshop, the resource persons elaborately discussed with the help of projector, the basic things to combat earthquake disaster. They also discussed about the role of the students to spread awareness practically among the masses. Engineer Dulal Ghosh, the Secretary of Science and Rationalist Association informed that, the workshop would cast a long lasting impact on the students and they would organize such workshops in future too. In today’s workshop Engineer Bhaskar Bhattacharjee, Engineer Subrata Acharjee and Anup Sharma discussed on the matter as resource persons.
