AGARTALA, Jan 7 (TIWN): Electricity Minister of the state,Manik Dey has given authority to the electricity officials to cut off hook lines but also refrained them from filing cases against the accused.
Reports presented in the Vidhan Sabha stated that in the year 2014-15, number of accused under electricity theft was 15,595 while registered cases were only against 66 families.
It seemed cases were filed against only those who belonged to opposition. Opposition MLA Ratan Nath blasted Manik Dey saying that CPIM cadres had theft license.
The center had launched various apps and campaigns for providing electricity to all and such corrupted steps by the State Government is a hurdle to the achievement.
