AGARTALA, Nov 22 (TIWN): With the resign of Congress MLA Jiten Sarkar from MLA post and joining in CPI-M, Tripura Pradesh Congress has become the weakest opposition in Tripura.
The Barjala Congress candidate Rajendra Kumar Das who ended with 1063 votes, while TMC got 15,769 votes, BJP 12,395 votes, Trinamool 5692. The scenario at Khowai is more pathetic, as there Congress was ended with 696 votes.
At Barjala the Congress candidate was found alone with few Yuva Congress leaders. However, accepting the defeat Congress party further going to re-establish the party here in Tripura, TIWN reported.
In this regard, Tripura BJP General Secretary Rajib Bhattacharjee said on the background of Bi-election for Barjala Constituency, “CPI-Ms always shelter all kinds of betrayals and backboneless members in their party & Jiten Sarkar who left Congress to join CPI-M during Congress party was undergoing tremendous crisis is an exact example of it. JitenSarkar to save own future and to confirm his rose-bed till he dies, had escaped from Congress and joined in CPI-M”.
“Barjala area suffers through various major problems including water, electricity, roadway, but giving up all the agonies of the public Sarkar ran after the ruling party and that is the way the Brajala MLA tried to seal his ‘Safe-future’”, he added.
