SABROOM,June 7 (TIWN) : At midnight of Thursday( around 12.40am) when the roads were almost deserted a mentally imbalanced woman became the victim of some hyenas in the name of men. The incident took place in or around Harina Bazar under Manu Bazar Police Station.

It is alleged that three culprits namely Yubaraj Debbarma, Dhanumohan Tripura and Dilip Majumder( a local businessman) gang raped the woman in the darkness of night and tried everything that they could do to get assured that there exists no evidence. In drunken condition they hit the woman on the head with sticks and assaulted her badly. Later on changing their tactics they tied the Alo Rani in the grill of a community centre's window and set fire on her. The woman succumbed to her injuries.

However, on Friday police arrested three suspected culprits and registered a case of rape, murder and destruction of evidence in the Manu Bazar Police Station(Case No-46/2014). Speaking to TIWN over phone Additional S P South Dilip Deb said, " We arrested all the three criminals. The charges that have been imposed against the three are 376, 302 and 201 of IPC Today they were produced before the court and Sub Divisional Judicial Magistrate Sukhendu Bikash Das granted 7 days of police remand.

Meanwhile on Saturday afternoon a team of All India Democratic Woman Organization staged a deputation to the SDPO  Sabroom H. Francis Darlong demanding exemplary punishment of the culprits. The SDPO assured the delegation of proper investigation.
