AGARTALA, Nov 12 (TIWN): Lok Adalal was held in Tripura High Court as well as Lower court on Saturday.
Total 40 cases were raised in High Court on this occasion, TIWN reported.
Lok Adalat is one of the alternative dispute redressal mechanisms, it is a forum where disputes/cases pending in the court of law or at pre-litigation stage are settled/ compromised amicably.
Lok Adalats have been given statutory status under the Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987.
Lok Adalat is a system of alternative dispute resolution developed in India. It roughly means "People's court". India has had a long history of resolving disputes through the mediation of village elders.
