AGARTALA, June 5 (TIWN): Ahead of panchayat elections in the state schedule to hold on July, the state election commission (SEC) will review law and order and likely poll arrangements in a meeting with Chief Secretary, DGP and IGPs tomorrow at secretariat.
"It is a formal meeting to assess the situation before going to the main polling process," State Election Commissioner Y.Kumar said while talking to TIWN at secretariat on Thursday evening. Starting from deployment state armed force, categorization of polling booths, the entire preparation up to the booth-level likely to be discussed in the meeting, he said.
Meanwhile the tentative electoral roll for the coming three-tier Panchayat election in Tripura were published on Thursday. The Tripura State Election Commission (SEC) published the l list with 11 lakh 8 thousand 188 voters enrolled, displaying a slight rise of 1,397 voters from the draft electoral rolls published in May.. The preliminary figures are subject to change after final input arrives from all Block Development Officers (BDO) later in the evening, Kumar said.
Asked about scopes of further changes in the electoral rolls, if needed, the State Election Commissioner said that the Tripura Panchayat Act had provisions of further changes under Section 186 in cases where the voters might feel unsatisfied. Any voter is free to appeal to the District Election Officer or the Election Returning Officer in such cases, he said.
