AGARTALA, June 3 (TIWN): Aiming to increase the power generation at Rukhia and Barmura Gas thermal projects, the state government has decided to convert both the plants into combine-cycle mode, said Power Minister Manik Dey here today.While speaking after laying the foundation stone for new building of Tripura State Electricity Corporation Ltd (TSECL) at Bhuturia, he said the state cabinet has already cleared a proposal to convert Rukhia and Barmura Gas Thermal plants into combined-cycle mode to increase power generation.“The government will soon ink a Memorandum of Understanding with NEEPCO to undertake the plan. If both plants are converted into combine-cycle, the power generation will be increased while the loss could not containedâ€, he said.
Dey further said, the government also plans to modernize the Dumbur Hydro electric project to increase power generation. “The government want to rope in with the NEEPCO to modernize the state’s lone hydro electric project”, he said.
The proposed building will be a four-storey structure. The estimated cost of the building is Rs 30.67 crore. Dey said, “We should take responsibility to strengthen the power supply in the state. The state government will take strict action if any lapse is found in course of construction of the four story building.
“I have received complaints that employees of call centres are not working properly. The state electricity consumers are not getting proper response from the call centres in case of any problem”, he said. Hence, he appealed to all the employees of state electricity corporation to work properly.
