Agartala, May 29 (TIWN): A high intensity Tornado, accompanied by rain and hailstorm hit the Harikubra Para of Takarjala area under Jampuijala block, destroying more than 30 houses, uprooting trees and disrupting communication, last night. No causality was reported yet by the Tornado. The main building of the Takarjala hospital was also damaged partially in the Tornado.

Disaster Management Team including other locals stepped up efforts to provide relief to those affected families by the tornado that struck late on Wednesday night. During the Tornado Hundreds of trees, telephone and electric poles have been uprooted, affecting the movement of vehicles, an official informed.

"Civil defence workers and district officials are busy providing relief. Officials are trying to restore communication lines and power supplies," an official said today. Preliminary on behalf of the administration, Rs 5000 to the each highly affected family and Rs 1000 to the each minor affected family has been provided.

After receiving the information, Sub Divisional Magistrate, Jampuijala- Ushajai Mag, BDO of Jampuijala block, Chairman of Jampuijala block- Ramendra Debbarma, Officer-In-Charge of Takarjala police station including other officials rushed to the place and interacted with the affected people of the said area.
