Kailasahar, May 29 (TIWN): An FIR was lodged against a Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC), posted in Khowai district court by his wife on Wednesday night at local women police station ere for alleged dowry harassment and physical abuse.
Speaking to TIWN, officer–in–charge of Kailasahar women police station Dipanjana Sinha said that the complaint was filed by Sampa Pal against her husband Patheek Das Choudhury for dowry harassment and beating her for quite some time on the issue. On Wednesday morning Patheek allegedly thrashed his wife, after which she suffered lots of injuries including some bite marks.
“The victim, a mother of five years old child in her complains stated that soon after their marriage on 2006 she was harassed and beaten for dowry regularly by her husband and in – laws. Recently, her husband demanded a car and the land property from victim’s father. When demands were not meet, the victim was subjected to physical torture,” says the police officer. The case number is 28/14/498/34 IPC.
Meanwhile, the incident caused serious resentment among people demanding immediate arrest of the accused and justice for the victim.Crime against women is on rise in the state for last few years, in last fortnight the state witnessed sudden rise in rape and murder of women.
