AGARTALA, May 28 (TIWN): Newly appointed Union Minister for Rural Development Gopinath Munde is likely to inaugurate the national level first performance review committee meeting for this financial year on MGNREGA, NERLM, NSAP and IYA, said sources. Principal secretary N. C. Sinha and additional secretary C. K. Jamatia will attend the meeting which to held on June 5 and 6 at Vigyan Bhavan, Delhi.
Meanwhile Union Ministry of Rural Development has released Rs 108 crore under under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MG NREGS) for Tripura, said an official of rural development department. The sanctioned budget of 2014 -15 is Rs 1406 crore. The released fund was disbursed in eight districts and work is schedule to start throughout the state from first week of June after a gap of two months.
In 2013 -14 ,Tripura has once again topped all the states in implementing the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA), which guarantees minimum job days to people in rural areas. Besides the has also topped in getting per head fund allocation from the central government and providing wages to MGNREGA workers through banks.
The MGNREGA guarantees 100 days of employment in a financial year to a rural household whose adult members volunteer to do unskilled manual work. The Tripura government is also providing wages to MGNREGA workers at their door steps through business correspondents engaged by various nationalized and regional rural banks.
