AGARTALA, Sep 22 (TIWN): Dipa Karmakar has been felicitated by SBI at Sukanta Academy, Agartala.
SBI MD Rajnish Kumar handed over Rs. 10 lakhs to Dipa Karmakar. Rajnish Kumar who has arrived in Tripura to participate in NE business summit has also felicitated Dipa after the summit was completed.
Apart from SBI Vijaya Bank first awarded Dipa with Rs. 2.5 lakhs, Bandhan Bank with Rs. 5 lakhs, UBI Bank awarded Rs. 5 Lakhs each to Dipa & her coach Bisweswar Nandi.
Dipa Karmakar is a gymnast who represented India in 2016 Rio Olympic held at Brazil.
She is the first Indian female gymnast ever to compete in the Olympics, and the first Indian gymnast to do so in 52 years.
She attained 4th position in Women's Vault Gymnastics event of Rio Olympics 2016 with an overall score of 15.066
