AGARTALA, Sep 16 (TIWN): Celebration of festive season has been vandalizing with the increasing price of commodities ahead of Viswakarma Puja. The burning price of items for Viswakarma Puja has created resentment among the public.
“Every prices are double”, said the customer at Maharaj-Ganj Bazar.
“The price of fruits are double, even the Viswakarma idols price’s are also double”, says another customer at Golbazar.
However, people are preferring small size of Lord Viswakarma to manage their budgets.
Even as devotees are busy buying essential items just before Viswakarma Puja, various items which make an important part of the ritual have seen a price hike.
In the last two days, prices of bananas, coconut and sugarcane which are very important ingredients for making offerings to the god have almost doubled.
Devotees on fast usually buy a whole stump of bananas rather than a dozen or two as it has to be offered to the god. The price of one stump has doubled in the markets in the city.
