Agartala, May 17 (TIWN): To make works easier and reducing time for any effort, Broadband network plays a vital role, said Industries and Commerce (IT) Minister-Jitendra Chowdhury in a seminar at Muktadhara auditorium, this evening.
“Due to the lack of commitment, network service providers fail to offer quality services in the state. There is a major room for improvement in the 2G and 3G internet services. This sector should not be handed over to those service providers who suck money without providing quality service”, said Chowdhury.
World Telecommunication and Information Society Day was observed throughout the day-long programmes, with the initiative of The Institute of Engineers (India) and BSNL SSA Tripura, today. As a part of the programmes, a seminar on “Broadband for sustainable development” was organised at the Muktadhara auditorium, this evening.
Er. Deb Kumar Chakraborty, General Manager of BSNL in his speech explained the importance of broadband network service during the seminar. “A total of 48 BSNL towers are there in the state. We will introduce 18 more towers to provide better broadband network service by the end of June this, year”, said Chakraborty. Focusing the theme of the seminar, he also stated that to bring diversification in economy is the main focus of sustainable development. Mobile broadband should be utilised for sustainable development. “The state people are going to avail an excellent quality of broadband service within six months.
Besides, the chief guest Jiten Chowdhury, Dy. Speaker of Legislative Assembly- Pabitra Kar graced the dais as guest of honour while the seminar was presided over by the chairman of The Institute of Engineers (India) - Dr Swapan Bhaumik. Er. Niladri Das, Scientist-C, National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT) also delivered his address.
