AGARTALA, Sep 4 (TIWN): Tripura Karmakar Loha Sramik Samanay Union (TKLSSU) on Sunday felicitated golden girl Dipa Karmakar at Dipa’s residence for her outstanding performance at the Rio Olympic who came fourth in the Rio Olympic 2016.

Felicitating Dipa at her residence, TKLSSU member stated that Dipa has made the entire nation proud with her outstanding performance at the Rio Olympic 2016.

Dipa Karmakar though missed out on an Olympic medal, still showed some character and gave a decent performance. The Indian gymnast stood a solid chance of winning a silver medal after finishing her performance but was later pushed to fourth spot. She missed the bronze medal by 0.150 points.

USA’s Simone Biles won the gold medal with a score of 15.966 while the silver went to Russia’s Maria Paseka after her score of 15.253. Bronze was bagged by Switzerland’s Giulia Steingruber for her score of 15.216.

Karmakar’s final score of 15.066 gave her the fourth position in the final. Her first vault fetched her 14.866 points but her Produnova gave her 15.266. She was second after her two vaults but Russia and USA were the last to go and that pushed Karmakar out of the top three position
