AGARTALA, May 17 (TIWN): The State Election Commission, Tripura will issue voter list of all wards of gram panchayats on May 19, while stating this here today, the state election secretary Prasenjit Bhattacherjee said that voter list of the gram panchayats would be prepared by taking data of the relevant part of Lok Sabha electoral rolls finally published on January 1, 2014.
He said that the District Election Officer (Panchayat) had been told that the draft voters list so prepared for preliminary publication of all the wards of Gram Panchayat should be in conformity with the electoral rolls of published on January 1,2014, except those persons who have died or no longer residing in the respective Gram Panchayat area.
Earlier a total of 2,543 polling stations were included in the draft list of polling stations published. The figures had a straight rise from 2,185 since the 2009 Panchayat election in the state.
Figures of polling stations mainly rose due to the recent bifurcation and creation of new three-tier panchayat bodies in the state, All 591 Gram Panchayats, 35 Panchayat Samity and 8 Zilla Parishad All gram panchayats of the state are expected to go to polls in July later this year.
