KAMALPUR, May 28 (TIWN): The drinking water scarcity continued to hit the remote areas of the subdivision severely. And the claims of the DWS department of continued to reach higher every year.

The trumpeted and high scaled Annual Action Plans for reducing the drinking water scarcity bore no fruit virtually. The same thing continued in the fiscal 2015-16 as the embezzlement happy authority failed to attain the target.

In the fiscal 2015-16, the DWS department announced to sink 662 Small Bore Tube Wells in 8 blocks of the Dhalai districts along with other blocks of the state. The department sanctioned 122 SBTW for Manu Block; 30 for Chawmanu; 105 SBTW for Ambassa Block; 10 for Ganganagar Block; 89 for Dumburnagar Block; 73 SBTW for Raishyabari Block; 115 for Salema Block and 128 SBTW for Durgachaowmuhani Block.

Now, after the passing out of the fiscal it got evident that even the one-third of the announced target could not be achieved. And those which got achieved remained out of order or non-functioning in reality. But the contractors happily pocketed their bills and the officials got their share. Now, who would bother if the commoners continued to cry for a drop of safe drinking water in this golden regime!
