AGARTALA, May 4 (TIWN): To save the vote banks in the upcoming Assembly Election, Tripura Govt. is trying to save its image after massive scandals held under MGNREGA. After High Court expressed dissatisfaction about the CBI inquiry process against MGNREGA scam, court had further ordered to conduct audit by independent investigation organization into the case. The court also requested the central Comptroller and auditor general (CAG) to suggest names for independent investigation organizations. However, HC announced it on April 19, 2016 with the divisional bench with CJ Dipak Gupta and justice Subhashish Talaparta. During the session of hearing at HC on April 19 as the public prosecutors failed to answers to the question which reported serious embezzlement in the in the blocks, so High Court took that decision. Reportedly, state govt. has decided to appeal to the Supreme Court, so that stay order can be brought against the High Court’s Decision, which told about to set a new investigation team(Not chosen by state Govt.) to inquiry about various projects under MGNEGA and to dig out each and every corruption held in state’s blocks.
It’s to be mentioned here that the Bishalgrah RD Block’s scam was held in 2013 (Rs. 17 crores), when S K Panda was the Chief Secretary of Tripura.
But police, CBI both ran their investigation in a wrong way to save corrupt officials. Moreover, to save tainted officials like BDO Bimal, Govt took away Secretaryship of R D Department from S K Rakesh.
Now with High Court ordered for fresh inquiry, Govt. is appealing in Supreme Court so that no further enquiry actually needed as CPM govt can hide more corruptions--- like last 3 years after massive MGNREGA scams.
