AGARTALA, April 9 (TIWN): More then 25 CPI-M party youth leaders quit to voice protest against the CPM party in Tripura on the issue of alliance with Congress in the upcoming West Bengal elections.
A youth leader from the CPI (M) left party to voice his protest against the alliance with Congress in West Bengal.
Apart from him another 24 members also quit party in the Teliamura sub-division under Khowai district in Tripura.
The youth leader identified as Animesh Gope, is a well known communist leader from Teliamura.
Earlier he was the first face of CPI (M) youth organisation known as DYFI (Democratic Youth Federation of India) in Teliamura.
Animesh and another 24 members from the party on Thursday declared their resignation from CPI (M).
Animesh Gope informed that they are quitting CPM party as they cannot accept the alliance with the Congress.
They believe that the Congress is still a party representing the economically rich strata of the society.
He further added that an alliance with the Congress negates the very founding ideology of the left party.
An alliance with the Congress means embracing a completely different political ideology for political gains.
Its here mention that, two days ago another senior party leader Ajoy Baidya and his followers resigned from the party on the same ground. Baidya was a secretariat member of CPI (M) Ambasa divisional committee.
All together nearly about 50 CPI (M) members have left the party within the last three days to show their protest against the decision of party's central leaders.
Yesterday, Congress leader Sudip Roy Barman also resigned from the post of opposition leader to show his protest against the poll alliance with the left in West Bengal.
