AGARTALA, April 8 (TIWN): Bharatiya Janta Party of State holds a press conference on the arrival of Union Minister of state for Textiles (Independent charge), Santosh Kumar Gangwar on Friday at the BJP party office.
Addressing the Press Conference, Union Minister of State for Textiles (Independent charge), Santosh Kumar Gangwar stated that apparel industry is among the most rewarding regarding the generation of revenue and employment in any state.
Besides, he also mentioned that though the Apparel and Garment making Centre is a small yet a significant step towards development and employment generation step in the state.
The Apparel and Garment Making Centre is being set up as part of a landmark initiative announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Nagaland on December 1, 2014.
Besides, he also expressed confidence that the enabling policies and programmes initiated by the Government under the dynamic leadership of the Prime Minister will attract more such investments in the State and help it to emerge as a hub for apparel industry.
However, the initiatives are expected to lead in the direction of increase in the export of apparel goods.
Union Minister of state for Textiles (Independent charge), Santosh Kumar Gangwar was born on November 1, 1948 in Bareilly. He has been an alumnus of the Agra University and the Rohilkhand University in Uttar Pradesh from where he completed his B Sc and LLB Degrees.
The BJP's origins lie in the Bharatiya Jana Sangh, formed in 1951 by Syama Prasad Mookerjee. After the State of Emergency in 1977, the Jana Sangh merged with several other parties to form the Janata Party; it defeated the incumbent Congress party in the 1977 general election.
