AGARTALA, April 8 (TIWN) : Since few days with the raising water level of Dumboor, risks of lives has been increased at Amarpur Dumboor lake area. Reportedly, due to continuous raining in last few days the water level of Dumboor lake has been increased. With the water-level increasing the dam of Dumboor lake area is now on the verge of destruction.
Panic has gripped the farmers due to loss, resulted out of heavy rain . This is not only affecting the farmers’ livelihood but price hike at vegetable markets has become a matter of worry for the common people.
Deplorable condition of Dumboor dam is increasing dangers with every passing day. According to the5reports around 14 years, no maintenance has been done on Dumboor dam.
Reportedly in year 1969, with the initiatives of the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, the dam had been made at Madirghat.
But after that no work has been done yet. Moreover, the people who lived at that place didn’t get even compensation money for this.
The dam has started to break down in many corners, which has increased the risks over there. According to the locals, before 10 years it was necessary to do maintenance work. But till day, no action has been taken.
However, all old machines and instruments are still using to run this dam, alleged locals. It’s to be mentioned that whether govt. claims for investing funds on tourist spots as well as resources, the condition of Dumboor dam depicts the reality.
If the dam is collapsed anyhow many houses of Gomati dist. will go under water.
