KAMALPUR, April 5 (TIWN): The two-day long International Seminar on the observation of 150th years’ mark of Bengali Fiction began today at Kamalpur Government Degree College. Deputy Speaker of Tripura Legislative Assembly, Mr. Pabitra Kar inaugurated the Seminar. Among others, MLA Anajn Das, MLA Bijoy Lakshmi Sinha and Chairperson of Kamalpur Nagar Panchayat Subrata Bhattacharjee were also present in the inaugural program.
Besides, scholars and researchers from different parts of the country and state as well as from neighboring Bangladesh also participated in the Seminar.
The Seminar on the issue of “150th Anniversery of Bengali Fiction” already emerged as a great happening in the concerned literary strata. Almost 150 scholars already submitted their thesis papers to read out in the seminar. The organizing committee also set out 18 sub-themes on the matters related with the Bengali fiction covering from its origin to the present situation.
It might be mentioned here that, the 150th anniversary of Bengali Fiction was got marked with the composition of historic-romance novel “Durgeshnandini” by Bankim Chandra Chatterjee in 1865.
