Earlier while asked about visiting West Bengal where also election is going on simultaneously he said, “No programme has been scheduled yet. In any case there is no possibility of Sarkar visiting Bengal before the first phase which is going to be held on April 4.”
It has been learnt that Manik Sarkar is reluctant to campaigning in West Bengal where his party is contesting the election in alliance with the Congress. Sources in the party said it will be very embarrassing for him to share dais with the Congress leaders which is the main opponent to him in Tripura.
According to sources the Bengal CPI (M) leaders had invited him to represent the party while Rahul Gandhi will be there. But Sarkar avoided it by citing pre-scheduled program in Assam.
