AGARTALA, April 3 (TIWN): Joint Entrance Examination JEE (Main), offline exam held on Sunday in various centres at Agartala.
Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) is an all India common engineering entrance examination of objective pattern which is conducted for admission in various engineering colleges and courses all over the country. It is regarded internationally as one of the most challenging engineering admission tests.
Earlier, Government run Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) use to conduct AIEEE which has been replaced by JEE Mains and JEE Advanced.
However, JEE Main 2016 is the first stage examination for admissions to prestigious IITs (Indian Institute of Technology) and ISM (Indian School of Mines) Dhanbad conducted by CBSE.
It is to be mentioned here that offline examination has been conducted on Sunday and later of April 9 and 10 the inline examination will be conducted.
Only the students selected in JEE Mains are eligible for appearing in JEE Advanced.
It is to be mentioned here that last year, over 13 lakh candidates appeared for this national level exam for admissions to 31 NITs, 18 IIITs and 18 GFTIs, which are the participating institutes of JEE Main.
JEE main comprises of two papers. The students seeking for admission in BE or B. Tech programmes at NIITs, IITs and CFTIs needs to appear for paper-1 and interested students in architecture and planning programmes need to give paper-2.
A total of 90 questions will be asked in the examination.
Only those candidates, who have passed their class 12th exam or any equivalent qualifying examination in 2014 or 2015; or those who are appearing in their class 12th exam or any equivalent qualifying examination in 2016 are eligible to appear in JEE Main 2016.
Candidates must have taken at least five subjects in class 12th/qualifying examination in order to be eligible for writing JEE Main 2016.
