AGARTALA, March 25 (TIWN): Governor Tathagata Roy on Friday inaugurated the silver Jubilee celebration program of the institution of Engineers and also inaugurated seminar at Nazrul Kalakshetra as the chief guest.

It is to be mentioned here that with the aim to celebrate the silver jubilee program of the institution of engineers, Tripura state centre has also hoisted a weekly program from March 25 to 31 at Agartala.

The institution of engineers observed the inaugural ceremony of silver jubilee celebration and seminar on Friday at Nazrul Kalakshetra.  Governor Tathagata Roy graced the program as the chief guest.

The program was also attended by Professor Anjan Kumnar Ghosh, Vice chancellor Tripura University as the guest of Honour.  

RK Majumder FIE Chairman of the Institute of engineers from Tripura state centre also presided over the program.

However, the closing ceremony of the program would be done by PWD Minister Badal Chowdhury, AMC Mayor Prafuillajit Sinha, CS YP Singh, NIT Director Dr. Gopal Mugeraya and others.

The five day long program would hold several events including seminar on issues like power development scenario in Tripura and Bangladesh, power generation in NE region of India, High speed internet connectivity, rail connectivity and others.

The Institution of Engineers (India) was established in 1920 in Kolkata, West Bengal and is acclaimed to have pioneered non-formal education in engineering.

The Institution of Engineers (India) conducts an examination of its associate membership. This examination is considered to be on par with B.E. / B.Tech. When contemplated as an eligibility qualification to write competitive examinations like the Indian Civil Service, Indian Engineering Services, GATE, etc., and for employment in Government, public and private sectors in India. This qualification is recognized by the Ministry of HRD, government of India, as equivalent to B.E./B.Tech. The Institution of Engineers (India) was incorporated by Royal Charter in 1935. It is currently headquartered in 8 Gokhale Road.
