AGARTALA, March 9 (TIWN): Chief Minister Manik Sarkar on Wednesday inaugurated the C-DAC-NIT Agartala PARAM Super-computing centre at the Bharat Ratna APJ Abdul Kalam Block, CSE department under National Institute of Technology. The inaugural ceremony was also attended by NIT Director Professor Dr Gopal Mugeraya, Hemant Darbari Executive Director, C-DAC Pune and others.
The inauguration of C-DAC-NIT Agartala PARAM Super-computing centre marked the first of the iconic PARAM Super-computing Facility set up in the state of Tripura.
The initiative is a joint collaboration between the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC), Ministry of Communications and IT, Government of India and the National Institute of Technology Agartala (NITA), Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India.
This creation of a PARAM Super-computing infrastructure at NIT Agartala enabled the institute to begin and pursue interdisciplinary research in various engineering domains by modern computational research methodologies where the focus will be on accuracy with a clear purpose for decision making.
This Supercomputer will be used as a tool for carrying out modelling, simulation and data analysis (modern R&D methodologies) in multiple science and engineering domains. Research Scholars can obtain fast modelling and Simulations results of very real life complex problem statements of their research in diverse field of applications.
By educating and training the students (both undergraduate and graduate) in this area, the institute will serve the purpose of capability building thus catering to the growing need for simulation and data-driven decision making in problems of national and state importance.
This new PARAM Super-computing Facility at NIT Agartala is equipped with the latest processing and accelerator technology from the world leading organizations Intel and NVIDIA and can be easily referred to as the world’s most compact and energy efficient super-computing solution.
